Auction rules

  1. Binding bids. Every bid is a commitment to pay if you win. The winning bid is a binding pledge to the scholarship fund.
  2. Minimum increments. Each item lists its starting bid and minimum raise.
  3. Soft close. A bid placed in the final minutes extends that item's closing time by a few minutes, so auctions end with quiet, not sniping.
  4. Saved cards. Select high-value items require a saved card before bidding. Your card is only charged if you win.
  5. Payment. Winners pay at the close of the auction — online by card, or at the event by cash, check, or Venmo. Payment is due within 48 hours of close.
  6. Defaulted bids. If a winning bid is not paid, the organizers may void it and offer the item to the next highest bidder.
  7. Tax note. Auction purchases are generally deductible only for the amount paid above an item's fair market value. We'll provide details with your receipt.
  8. Pickup. Items are picked up at the event or by arrangement with the organizers.
